Tyke — Privacy Policy

Tyke does not collect, transmit, or store any of your data anywhere except on your own Mac.

That is the whole policy. The rest of this page explains why it can't be otherwise.

What Tyke stores

The text you type into Tyke is written to a single plain-text file inside the app's sandbox container on your Mac:

~/Library/Containers/org.torrez.tyke/Data/Library/
Application Support/Tyke/scratch.txt

Your preferences — the global hotkey, whether Tyke launches at login, your chosen font, and the position of the detached window — are stored alongside it in the app's own preferences. That is everything Tyke writes.

What Tyke sends

Nothing. Tyke has no network access at all.

This isn't a promise about intent — it's a property of how the app is built. Tyke is sandboxed by macOS and ships without the network entitlement, which means the operating system itself will not permit it to open a network connection. There is no analytics, no crash reporting, no telemetry, no account, no sign-in, and no server for any of it to reach.

Third parties

There are none. No advertising, no SDKs, no data sharing or selling, because there is no data leaving your machine to share or sell.

Deleting your data

Select the text in Tyke and delete it, and it is gone at the next save. To remove everything, delete the Tyke app — macOS removes its sandbox container, including the scratch file and preferences, along with it.

Children

Tyke does not collect personal information from anyone, of any age.

Changes

If this policy ever changes, the revised version will be posted here with a new date. Given the above, substantive change is unlikely.
